Some victims of the Mountain Fire still need a place to stay. Victims and community members gathered over the weekend in Camarillo to exchange stories of evacuation and survival and hug those left in tears after they lost their homes.
The American Red Cross has been trying to help those who don’t have elsewhere to go, and several residents say they still don’t have shelter after their home burned down. The Red Cross has four pop-up sites around the area designed to help people get information on how to apply for federal assistance.
Meantime, firefighters have now managed to get containment of the fire up to 36 percent. The fire destroyed over one hundred homes. The cause of the flames is still under investigation.
