Senate Republicans will select their new leader next week. South Dakota’s John Thune, Texas’ John Cornyn and Florida’s Rick Scott are all vying for the party’s leader in the Upper Chamber. They are looking to replace Kentucky’s Mitch McConnell, who is stepping aside as Republican leader. Thune told CNBC that he believes it would be in President-elect Trump’s best interest to not get involved in the race. Senate Republicans will hold the election for the party’s new leader Wednesday.
