Mother Whose Son Was Murdered Calls for New D.A. in LA County

A mother from the Los Angeles area whose 15-year-old son was murdered in 2022 is calling for a new County District Attorney. Martha Sandoval says the way the laws are written, criminals are treated better than victims. Sandoval’s son was shot in the back of the head by a minor who was serving as a security guard at a party. The shooter is in jail on a murder conviction. But his sentence is only seven years because he was a minor and had no prior convictions. He’s expected to be paroled after two years. Sandoval says the laws have to change to be able to try underage violent offenders as adults.
