The final jobs report before Election Day can be summed up as a big miss. Numbers out today from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show the economy added just 12 thousand new jobs last month. The report was always expected to be dramatically lower than the previous month’s, given that it would incorporate the effects of two hurricanes and a number of labor strikes. However, most analysts were still predicting upwards of 100-thousand positions gained. The unemployment rate held steady at four-point-one percent.
