A Hong Kong-based cargo ship is being held at the Port of West Sacramento.  U.S. Marshals seized the “China Spirit” last Friday and detained its crew. Authorities say the ship has an unpaid 408-thousand-dollar fuel bill. Its crew of 21 people, all from China, is not allowed off the ship while it’s docked in the port. Named in a federal lawsuit, the ship’s owner and a separate company are accused of failing to pay the six-figure fuel bill at a port in the United Arab Emirates. The ship and its crew can leave once the legal dispute is settled in court. This is just the second time a ship has been seized at the Port of West Sacramento in the past three decades.
