(Sacramento, CA) — Retail giant Walmart is set to pay half a million dollars after reaching a settlement over illegal weapons sold in California. Attorney General Rob Bonta says more than 250 brass knuckles were illegally sold to Californians through its website. Brass knuckles are illegal in California. Walmart will notify each customer who purchased brass knuckles and advise them to surrender the illegal weapons to local law enforcement.
Bonta announced the settlement Tuesday along with the district attorneys of Merced, Ventura and Yolo counties. He says illegal weapons have no place in California. Walmart will no longer sell brass knuckles on its website or allow third parties to do so. The retailer has also agreed to give customers the ability to report illegal weapons on every page of its website.
Attorney General Rob Bonta says the settlement reached with Walmart makes it clear that online retailers will be held responsible for what they allow to be sold in the state.
