Former 790 KABC radio talk show host and former California gubernatorial candidate Larry Elder is running for president in 2024. He made his announcement Thursday on Fox’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”
Elder, a Los Angeles native, launched into the national spotlight in 2021 when he ran in California’s recall election to remove Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom from office. The man known for saying “we’ve got a country to save,” told Carlson that he is running because he feels a moral obligation to do so, and wants to combat the crime crisis, and the “lie” that America is a racist country. Elder went on to tell Carlson that he’s pro-life and doesn’t buy into the notion that America is systematically racist, and says a lack of fathers in the home is the number one problem for Black America . When it comes to illegal immigration, he wants secure borders, and he wants the US to be energy independent.
Elder enters a growing GOP primary field with former President Donald Trump, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson and conservative businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, and may include Sen. Tim Scott and Gov. Ron DeSantis.
