(Chino, CA) — The Chino Valley Unified School Board is supporting a controversial gender reporting bill. The bill would require schools to tell parents within 72 hours if their child starts identifying as transgender. Parents would also be notified if their child wants to be addressed by a gender pronoun different from their sex assigned at birth, or wants to use facilities assigned to a different gender. The assembly bill is currently in committee in the California legislature. Hundreds of students, parents and community members attended Thursday’s school board meeting.
