A Riverside Congressman says he wants to help you have a little more giddy-up for the weekend. Democrat Congressman Mark Takano is re-introducing a bill that would make a 4-day work week federal law. He wants to knock the 40-hour work week, down to a 32-hour work week and mandate overtime for anything over 32-hours saying it’s a chance to “make common sense changes to work standards passed down from a different era.” He feels it would give people more room to live, play and enjoy life outside of work. Needless to say, there are substantial costs attached to this plan, not the least of which 20% fewer hours of productivity and potential higher overtime costs to taxpayers.
4-day, 32-hour federal workweek? Won’t it cost taxpayers more?
