Prosecutor Admits Alec Baldwin “Rust” Extra Gun Charge Was A Mistake

(Santa Fe, NM) — A New Mexico prosecutor admits Alec Baldwin’s extra penalty in the fatal “Rust” shooting case was incorrectly given. The actor was given a firearm enhancement charge that carries a potential five-year prison sentence. Baldwin was holding the gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on set, but his lawyers said it isn’t applicable in his case because the law was changed after what happened. Baldwin has denied pulling the trigger. Prosecutors downgraded the charges and removed the enhancement.
