(Sacramento, CA) — The money spent to replace U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein could break all-time records. With Adam Schiff, Katie Porter and Barbara Lee so far eyeing the seat, Democratic strategist Steve Maviglio thinks the candidate pool is strong. Maviglio says it’s going to be an expensive race that could cost between fifty to 100-million. After nearly three decades in the U.S. Senate, Feinstein announced this week she would not seek re-election next year but would finish out her term. She was elected in 1992. Democratic strategist Steve Maviglio says Newsom likely has no interest in the U.S. Senate seat. Maviglio estimates this race could cost between 50 to 100-million. If Feinstein decides to step down before her term ends, Governor Newsom would have to appoint a replacement.
