Prostitution Prevention Classes

(San Francisco, CA) — Men are being sent to “John School” in San Francisco. According to American Integrity Courses, the online school offers Prostitution Prevention Classes for first-time offenders. Usually a judge, parole officer or other official requires it as part of prostitution intervention. Some of the topics covered in the classes are legal consequences, health risks, effect on prostitutes and addiction. The school has been online since the beginning of the pandemic, and the DA’s office said all of the students have been men. The course lasts anywhere between four and 16-hours, no tests are required and a certificate of completion will be given when the course is finished.

Talks To Create Red-Light District In San Francisco

(San Francisco, CA) — Talks are brewing again to create a red-light district in San Francisco. Supervisor Hillary Ronen is drafting a resolution that would legalize sex work in the city. Ronen says she supports the idea of creating a sanctioned red-light district, but is more focused on lifting criminal penalties that punish the workers rather than sex traffickers. Progressive groups in San Francisco have repeatedly tried to decriminalize sex work in past years. City officials are set to install barriers this week along a strip of Capp Street to divert or slow down an unchecked market for sex work. Residents in the Mission District have complained about sex workers and cars with potential clients that line up along the street and want the business contained in a commercial zone.
