(Palmdale, CA) — The Palmdale City Council is telling the city of Los Angeles not to “dump” its homeless population there. Members voted unanimously on a resolution declaring opposition to Los Angeles using emergency powers to create a homeless village in the northern part of Los Angeles County, near Palmdale. Palmdale leaders and members of other Antelope Valley communities are pointing out that L.A. Mayor Karen Bass has said in the past that there’s no plan to move homeless people to that area and her focus will be on housing the unsheltered in the L.A. area. Last month, neighboring Lancaster issued its own declaration opposing the movement of homeless people from Los Angeles to that area.
