California Movement Looks To Ban Rodeos
(Los Angeles, CA) — A movement to ban rodeos in California is gaining steam over what is perceived as animal cruelty. The “Los Angeles Times” reports lawmakers are now getting involved in the discussion. A measure was introduced to the L.A. City Council to restrict particular devices used on animals if an event is held in the area. Similar restrictions are already mandated in places like San Francisco, San Juan Capistrano and Pasadena. However, not everyone is on board. Those who support rodeos have called the restrictions too extreme to an American tradition. Meantime, those against the event say otherwise, noting it puts a spotlight on animal cruelty.
