CA Abortion Guidance
(Oakland, CA) — California Attorney General Rob Bonta is issuing guidance to protect out-of-staters receiving abortion services in California. Bonta sent a bulletin to local district attorneys, sheriffs, chiefs of police, and state law enforcement agencies, saying requests from law enforcement in states where abortion is illegal should be carefully examined. He added that out-of-state agencies may try to get information about those seeking abortion by saying they’re investigating other crimes. Bonta signed a law that prevents the arrest of anyone aiding or performing a lawful abortion in California and prohibits California law enforcement from sharing any information related to a lawful abortion with out-of-state agencies.
