CA Malibu State Of Emergency

(Malibu, CA) — A local state of emergency has been declared in Malibu over homeless encampments. The goal of the City Council is to reduce the risk of wildfires by removing encampments from the hills and canyons, especially in areas that are in the most danger during wildfire season. The people who are being removed are given help including housing services, access to mental healthcare and other services. The city of Malibu says “the situation has become extremely dangerous” not only for people living in encampments who may not be able to escape a wildfire, but also for residents.
