Gascon feeling the heat–throwing blame for rise in crime everywhere but his office–probation officers, recall committee

Los Angeles D-A George Gascon says he believes he’ll defeat the recall effort against him in spite of what he calls misplaced blame for an increase in violent crime.

Gascon was in our 790-KABC studios and would not go on the John Philips show but did offer comments about not only the recall effort but what he calls unfair blame that three police officers are dead because of his policies. He points to the suspect who shot and killed the two El Monte Police officers in June. He says first, the suspect was out on bail a year before he was elected D-A

“Interestingly enough his mom called probation and told them he was carrying a gun and using drugs again – probation had that information for about three months and unfortunately because of COVID or other things they didn’t act upon it”

Gascon also contends people were told lies in order to get signatures on the recall petition but did not say that those lies are.
