(Sacramento, CA) — California is ramping up its response to the monkeypox outbreak. State Public Health Officer Dr. Tomas Aragon outlined Friday the state’s ongoing actions on vaccines, treatment and testing. The virus has impacted more than 750 Californians so far. Health officials have also urged the federal government to make more vaccine doses, citing the need for up to 800-thousand doses. To date, the state has distributed more than 25-thousand vaccine doses to local public health departments and mobile clinics. Dr. Aragon says the state will continue outreach and education efforts to inform Californians, and impacted communities, about monkeypox and ways to limit its spread.
