(Miramar, FL) — JetBlue Airways has agreed to pay three-point-eight-billion-dollars to acquire Florida-based Spirit Airlines. Travel Editor Peter Greenberg says the deal still needs federal government approval.
The carriers say a support center will remain in Fort Lauderdale for Spirit’s corporate Team Members in addition to JetBlue’s other support centers. If the deal is approved, JetBlue would become the country’s fifth-largest airline.
Travel Editor Peter Greenberg says the reason for the deal is simple. Greenberg believes it could lead to the disappearance of the Spirit name altogether.
