Lawsuit Filed Over Teen’s Death In CHOP
(Seattle, WA) — A lawsuit has been filed over the fatal shooting of a teenager in the CHOP Zone during demonstrations in 2020. Sixteen-year-old Antonio Mays Jr. was killed and a 14-year-old boy was shot and wounded. The Capitol Hill Organized Protest Zone was established during the demonstrations following the murder of George Floyd by Minnesota Police. Seattle Police abandoned the East Precinct and the lawsuit claims local and state leaders are responsible for Mays death, because they allowed the CHOP to remain. The lawsuit doesn’t specify an amount of damages being sought.
