(San Diego, CA) — California lawmakers are approving abortion protections and moving closer to putting an abortion measure on the November ballot. Abortion is already legal in California by court ruling, but state lawmakers want to confirm abortion rights in the California constitution. The motion to place the abortion measure before voters will likely happen later this month. Friday, state Senate President Pro Tempore Toni Atkins of San Diego says the legislature has passed Assembly Bill 1666 with the support of the governor, a law to protect women from other states coming to California for abortions.
