Police: AL Escaped Inmate, Officer In Custody
(Florence, AL) — The corrections officer that helped an Alabama inmate escape custody is dead. Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding tells CNN Vicky White has died from injuries from self-inflicted gunshot wounds. She and the inmate, Casey White, were caught Monday after a car chase in southern Indiana.
(Florence, AL) — Police in Alabama say the escaped prison inmate and the prison guard accused of helping him are in custody. Police said jailer Vicky White and inmate Casey White were captured in Indiana during a car pursuit and subsequent wreck. Vicky White was hurt by a self-inflicted gunshot wound and is in the hospital. Her condition is unknown. Casey White was not injured. Police plan to extradite the pair back to Alabama. They share the same last name, but are not related. They have been on the run for over a week and police believe this started as a prison romance.
