California is set to become the first state in the nation to establish content standards for plastic bottles. Beginning January first, California will require all plastic California Refund Value drink containers to be made of at least 15 percent recycled materials. Ultimately, the state will require all plastic bottles to be made of 50 percent recycled materials by the year 2030. State officials say the law will boost demand for recycled plastic, which increases the value of plastic materials for recycling centers to help relieve economic burdens.
