Redistricting Slices GOP: Garcia Will No Longer Represent Simi

(Simi Valley, CA) — U.S. Congressman Mike Garcia will no longer represent Simi Valley. Newly-approved redistricting maps put the mostly conservative city out of Garcia’s district — which he won last year by just 333 votes. The Republican had a sizable victory in Simi Valley. Political experts say — without Simi’s help — he wouldn’t have been elected. Beginning in June — the city will move into Democrat Julia Brownley’s 26th Congressional District which includes most of Ventura County. Garcia will represent the new 27th District that covers the Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys. Redistriciting is supposed to be done in a non-partisan way.
