(Washington, DC) — Health experts are now recommending that some people be screened for diabetes at age 35, instead of 40. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force has lowered the age for people who are overweight or obese, a major risk factor for diabetes. The CDC says more than 34-million Americans have the disease but many don’t know it. Diabetes, if left untreated, can lead to blindness, kidney disease, amputations and nerve damage. Diagnosis is done using a simple blood test.
