(Sacramento, CA) — Some labor groups are using worker shortages as leverage to improve pay and working conditions. Strike threats from Hollywood unions, to health care, to education are a reality as workers are demanding a change to the status quo. Some companies like Kaiser Permanente have offered bonuses of around 36-hundred a year. However, biomedical tech John Southworth of Roseville says it’s not enough to cover the cost of living increases. Still, some labor experts note that any leverage workers have will likely be temporary as the economy returns to pre-pandemic conditions.
If Gavin Newsom is doing the great job he says he is, how come so many people are threatening to strike?
