A wave of follow-home robberies in and around the city have prompted the LAPD to warn residents about what officials describe as an “ongoing crime trend.”

Authorities say victims have been found and followed by robbers from places like Melrose Avenue, downtown’s Jewelry District, nightclubs and high-end restaurants. the assailants will follow their identified target home or to work, where they’ll rob them on arrival. The police bulletin states that the robbers size up their victims, looking for expensive items, so they advise you to be aware of your surroundings, and be cautious of displaying high end bags, jewelry, watches or luxury items. and, if you think you’re being followed, call 911 and head to the nearest police station.
