(New York, NY) — Pop star Ed Sheeran is self-isolating after testing positive for COVID-19. The British singer posted on Instagram that he is “following government guidelines.” This comes a week before Sheeran’s new studio album “Equals” is set to hit streaming services. The pop star said he will do as many interviews and performances he can from home while he remains in quarantine.
The news of Sheeran’s diagnosis is complicating things for producers at Saturday Night Live. Before Sheeran revealed he had COVID, the show announced he would be the musical guest on November 6th alongside host Kieran Culkin. Now, a source tells Page Six Sheeran’s positive test means he won’t be allowed to come to the U.S. That’s reportedly leading producers to look for somebody who can appeal to the same group of viewers Sheeran would.
