Bill that critics say will make voting less secure and more at risk, stalls.

(Washington, DC) — Republicans are not buying the Democrats push to upend voting security with a Democrat voting rights bill. A vote to formally open debate on the bill failed to cross a 60-vote threshold, with no Republican support. In earlier remarks, Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called the bill a response to efforts to restrict voting in Republican-led states, which ignores years of attempts to make voting less secure. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell labeled it an “election takeover scheme” by Democrats.
