(Long Beach, CA) — The nation’s largest port is looking into all options as supply chain issues are hitting nationwide. Port of Long Beach, California Executive Director Mario Cordero says this is an “all hands on deck” situation.
Major ports are dealing with an unprecedented pileup of cargo containers and major retailers say they're scrambling to fill their shelves with certain items. Grocery stores report a thin supply of many popular items. Home Depot has started chartering ships to get around the supply chain crisis to make sure decorations, plumbing supplies, heaters, and more are in stock. The supply chain slowdown is being caused by several factors including a shortage of truck drivers and shipping containers.
