IATSE Sets Strike Date If Agreement Not Reached

(Hollywood, CA) — The union that represents thousands of Hollywood workers is set to go on strike next week unless a deal can be reached between it and studios. Sixty-thousand International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees members will begin a nationwide strike on October 18th at 12:01 a.m. over better hours and working conditions, jeopardizing productions across the U.S. The unions are seeking a ten-hour turnaround between shifts for all workers, and are also looking for increased meal penalties. IATSE [[ eye-OT-see ]] leadership said in a memo the studios “repeatedly refuse” to do what it will take to achieve a fair deal.
