(Washington, DC) — In what many are calling a threat to your right to oversee your kid’s education, the Department of Justice is cracking down on what they call “threats” to teachers and other school officials. Attorney General Merrick Garland issued a memo saying a task force will be created to figure out how to best prosecute those types of crimes. It’ll also address how to assist local and state law enforcement. In another initiative in what many see as the Biden administration’s campaign to thwart opposition, Garland described “threats” against folks including school board members as “counter to our nation’s core values.”

Schools have become a flashpoint in the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and debate over what is being taught in schools. Parents have become more active in stopping school districts from requiring that racist and anti-American curricula be taught and that teachers unions not be permitted to keep schools from being fully open for in-person learning.
