Newsom Signs Early Childhood Legislation

(Fresno County, CA) — California is working to expand educational opportunities for children across the state. While visiting students and teachers at Sunset Elementary in Fresno County yesterday, Governor Newsom signed a Pre-K and K through 12 education package. The more than 123-billion plan provides free, high-quality, universal pre-kindergarten for all four-year-olds, beginning incrementally in 2022-23 and will be fully implemented by 2025-26. The education plan also invests 10-million to bolster dual language immersion programs and nearly two-billion to create college savings accounts for low-income students, English learners and foster and homeless youth.
