(Los Angeles, CA) — New vaccination mandates are being announced for Los Angeles County. Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer, who is not a medical doctor, says vaccinations will be required for indoor bars, breweries, wineries, nightclubs and lounges. Workers and customers must get their first shot by October 7th and the second dose by November 4th. The health order, expected to be issued later this week, will also require vaccinations or proof of a recent COVID test for mega-events with ten-thousand or more people. Ferrer tells the L.A. County Board of Supervisors that the order will strongly recommend vaccinations for indoor restaurant areas. These new much more stringent requirements come as Los Angeles County’s COVID-19 positive case rate fell low enough this week to exit the federal government’s most severe “high” transmission category. The rolling average daily rate of people testing positive for the virus in the county was 1.6% as of Wednesday, that’s down from 3.3% a week ago. The new restrictions come the day after Governor Newsom beats a grass-roots recall vote.
