(Redding, CA) — The US Forest Service is closing all California National Forests through September 17th. Federal officials say its the best choice for public safety and a way to limit the potential risk of any new wildfires. They also say it was a difficult decision, especially with the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend. Officials say anyone caught illegally entering a national forest could face steep fines. Northern California wildfires this summer have impacted portions of the Klamath, Shasta-Trinity, Plumas, El Dorado, and Lassen National Forests.
