California’s Supreme Court Rules In Case About Death Penalty

(Sacramento, CA) — California’s Supreme Court is striking down an attempt to change the state’s death penalty law. The Los Angeles Times reports the state’s highest court unanimously voted against a law that would make it more difficult to impose the death penalty. Under the current law, a jury does not have to unanimously agree on capital punishment. California re-instated the death penalty in 1977.
