Gascon: No Opposition From Prosecutors For RFK’s Killers
(Sacramento, CA) — The man convicted of killing Senator Robert Kennedy is asking a California parole board for freedom. It’s the 16th time Sirhan Sirhan is seeking release from behind bars, but this time may be different. That’s because the District Attorney for Los Angeles County George Gascon will not be at the hearing, making it the first time prosecutors won’t be in attendance. Gascon’s office told The Washington Post it wants to remain neutral in the case. Kennedy had just won the California presidential primary in June 1968 when Sirhan gunned him down in the kitchen of the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. Sirhan’s parole board hearing is scheduled for 8:30 on Friday morning in San Diego.
