(Sacramento, CA) — As the embattled Governor is facing a recall in three weeks, the state is looking to add more power to avoid blackouts as more than a dozen wildfires continue burning in drought-stricken California. The plan is to set up five temporary generators around existing power plants, which are expected to generate about 150 megawatts of power to provide electricity for 108-thousand homes. The temporary units will be fueled by natural gas. The move is controversial because it’s contrary to state goals of eliminating reliance on fossil fuels, but a Fresno official says it’s also necessary in order to keep the lights on, and it could be considered important to a Governor facing recall.
