Biden Defends Afghanistan Decision In Interview

(Washington, DC) — President Biden says he did not see a way to get out of Afghanistan without “chaos ensuing.” Speaking to ABC News, Biden was asked if the U.S. exit could have been handled better in any way. Biden responded “no,” but added “we’re gonna go back in hindsight and look.” There are reports and images of the Taliban stopping people for going to the Kabul Airport to escape, but Biden insists they are “cooperating, letting American citizens get out.” Biden got defensive when he was asked about images showing Afghans falling to their death from U.S. planes, asserting that “That was four days ago, five days ago!” The President insisted he made the right decision to pull the troops out, but sidestepped a question regarding planning and U.S. intelligence failures. Also Secy of Defense Lloyd Austin said we don’t have the capability of ‘collecting large numbers of’ Americans.
