(Sacramento, CA) — A global news conference was held in opposition of California Senate Bill 57, which would O-K the creation of legal Drug Dens for users to get high safely. Dr. Gary Christian with Drug Free Australia says Drug Dens are legal in Canada and Australia. Senate Bill 57, authored predictably by far-left State Senator Scott Wiener would allow injection sites in San Francisco, Oakland and Los Angeles county. Wiener calls it a Science-based approach to addiction. The bill still needs the approval of the state assembly and the governor before it would become law. State Assemblyman Jim Cooper says he is unsure the Drug Dens would help reduce overdose deaths. In progressive Europe, Sweden Police Superintendent Lennart Karlsson says most countries don’t use the so-called Drug Dens. Chuck Doucette with the Drug Prevention Network says Canada saw problems and little payoff.
