(Los Angeles, CA) — Los Angeles County health officials are reporting 309 new COVID-19 cases along with 15 deaths. This brings the region’s totals to one-million-237-thousand-235 positive cases and 24-thousand-and-88 fatalities since the pandemic began 15 months ago. County Supervisor Kathryn Barger is calling on Governor Newsom to ease coronavirus mask-wearing requirements to align with relaxed guidelines announced by the CDC for fully-vaccinated people. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced last week that people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can stop wearing masks in most indoor and outdoor situations. However — face coverings are still recommended in some settings such as airplanes and buses or in crowded settings such as hospitals. Barger represents the Fifth District — which covers the Antelope and Santa Clarita valleys as well as parts of the San Fernando Valley.
