Study: 61% Of Americans Reported Weight Change Following COVID Shutdowns
(Washington, DC) — A new study shows more than half of U.S. adults reported significant weight changes following coronavirus shutdowns. The American Psychological Association says 61-percent of adults experienced unintentional weight loss or weight gain over the last year. Forty-two percent of participants gained more weight than intended, while 18-percent said they lost more weight than they wanted. The average amount of weight gained was 29 pounds. The pandemic has taken a toll on many people’s mental health and stress can have a direct impact on weight gain.
