San Diego Woman Sues Over Fundraiser For Starbucks Barista

(Irvine, CA) — A woman is filing a lawsuit over a GoFundMe campaign benefiting a Starbucks barista who asked her to wear a mask. Amber Giles, of San Diego, had posted an angry message to Facebook back in June about how a Starbucks barista named Lenin asked her to wear a mask. Matt Cowan, of Irvine, felt bad for Lenin and used the picture Giles posted to set up a GoFundMe for Lenin, which raised more than 100-thousand-dollars. Giles’ attorney is now claiming the campaign was defamatory, an invasion of privacy and raised money for Cowan’s company, which Cowan denies. Her lawsuit seeks money for damages, lost work and lawyer fees.
