(Huntington Beach, CA) — The Huntington Beach City Council will consider removing former UFC fighter Tito Ortiz as the city’s Mayor Pro Tempore next week. Mayor Kim Carr suggests the council cast a no-confidence vote in Ortiz, remove him as mayor pro-tem, and pick a new councilmember to fill the role. Carr says Ortiz’s actions haven’t represented the city as a leader should. Ortiz has openly refused to wear a mask during the pandemic and was filmed arguing with a parent who criticized him at a school meal giveaway in December. This happened just weeks after he took office with the most votes in city history. Last, week the lifelong Huntington Beach resident apologized to his council colleagues for criticizing a local restaurant on Instagram. They refused to serve him for not wearing a mask.
