NSA Warns Cell Phone Location Tracking A Security Threat
(Washington, DC) — The National Security Agency is warning cell phone location tracking poses a security threat. Their guidance was aimed at Defense Department personnel, but the NSA says it applies to anyone with a mobile device, including fitness trackers, smart watches, medical devices and household smart devices. They recommend people disable location services, use airplane mode and minimize use of the cloud. Privacy advocates say information stored on the device could be used for greater surveillance of the public.
