Dale Galipo is a lawyer for the family of Kenneth French and he believes the officer did not have a good reason to fire.

”There was no threat of death or serious bodily injury which is required to use deadly force.”

The family is also suing the Los Angeles Police Department, where the officer works. Riverside County prosecutors declined to file charges against Officer Salvador Sanchez. He shot the 32-year-old and his parents during a physical confrontation at the Costco in June. The officer’s lawyer says his client was off duty and acting in self defense. When French knocked him to the ground, the officer thought he was being shot and believed his young son was in danger.
