Los Angeles is one step closer to creating new oil and gas regulations.

Oil and gas rigs have been part of LA since before there were movie camera in Hollywood. Now the city council is proposing new laws to require large buffer areas between the rigs and sensitive areas. Advocates say it’s time to protect neighborhoods, churches and schools from the rigs – or eliminate some wells altogether. Critics say it could cost LA jobs and over a billion dollars in litigation costs from expected lawsuits.
