Even after the rain stops, Los Angeles beaches should be avoided for the next few days. County health officials says the rainfall can produce runoff filled with dangerous bacteria and chemicals. Water near storm drains and beaches can also contain debris and other health hazards. Because it hasn’t rained for months, there could be a lot of junk heading down toward the ocean. Everyone should avoid the beaches until at least Saturday morning.
Don’t plan any beach days this week.
