Thefts in stores are becoming a bigger problem, according to a trade group, because of prop 47. The California Retailers Association tells Fox News thefts of items worth under 950-dollars are getting worse because thieves are not as worried about being prosecuted. Passed by voters in 2014, prop 47 reclassifies some crimes as misdemeanors. Supporters say it focuses resources on bigger crimes. Critics maintain it gives crooks a green light to steal. And they say it’s leading to criminal outfits that resell stolen, high-end stolen merchandise.
