There’s confusion at Los Angeles International Airport where a new system for taxis and rideshare drivers premiered on Tuesday.

Traveler Elena Awbrey had just returned from New York as she waited for her Lyft to arrive at LAX.

”I know that they’re trying to make it better and I’m hopeful that we’ll find a system that works, but I’m still a little skeptical.”

The system requires arriving passengers to take a shuttle bus to a parking lot near Terminal 1 where they catch their ride. However, some apps are giving travelers pin codes, while others get assigned directly to drivers. The result – hundreds of people waiting for cars and drivers like this guy getting backed up onto side streets.

”Looks to me, the area that usually is pretty light, now it becomes a parking lot.”
